In today's OMGWTF why won't it just STOP news, bigoted Kentucky clerk Kim Davis has filed a petition to halt marriage licenses. Again.
In case you live on Mars, which is the only possible way you've missed the shitshow that is Kim Davis, this isn't Davis's first rodeo. Oh no, Davis was released from jail earlier this week after she was found in contempt of court for refusing to issue marriage licenses. This order came not just from the local courts, but was backed by the god damn Supreme Court of the United States. Because, you know, you should totally ignore the highest court in the fucking nation.
Well, that's exactly what Davis did. And even though this landed her in jail, even that didn't dissuade Davis from her misguided, bigoted, and flat out abominable behavior. Instead, after her release from jail, Davis attended a rally in her honor, where she preached a fucking sermon like she had just witnessed the second coming of Christ, cured cancer, and single-handedly created world peace. Today, she has yet to return to work, but she continues to collect a paycheck, and now she has filed yet another petition in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals to deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples on procedural grounds.
Let's face it, the Supreme Court has made it abundantly clear that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states (even Kentucky). Davis is well aware of this fact, but buoyed by the support of the extreme right, she is determined to martyr herself for this cause. Her petition will not survive a challenge, and she knows it. This is simply another diversionary tactic designed to harass same sex couples. It's bullshit, plain and simple, and it's time for the Kentucky legislature to impeach her bigoted, lazy ass.
